Nice start for the Tigers' baseball team with yesterday's 8-3 win.
This crew was just ready to get on the field and play anyone, and the fact they were able to win handily over a legitimate foe has to help their confidence.
I think I'm gonna go over to Doug Kingsmore today and check out freshman lefty Chris Dwyer.
Game stories from yesterday here, here and here.
Oliver Purnell's press conference was about to wrap up yesterday when I figured it might be useful to ask OP about the Alabama stuff and his future at Clemson.
His response, which you can see in its entirety here, led all the scribes to write stories on it for today's papers. Sorry to create the extra work for you, guys.
In The Greenville News, Clemson's athletic department claims donations haven't taken a dip despite the awful economy.
I'm still interested to see what the final tally is come this summer, because it's obvious a significant number of folks weren't happy with where they ended up after giving more in conjunction with the Seat Equity Plan.
But generally speaking, you have to think the presence of Dabo Swinney has done a lot for support and excitement surrounding the 2009 season.
Now all he needs to do is win, and winning will be more difficult with the addition of TCU to the schedule.
I can't imagine Dabo is all that ecstatic about the Horned Frogs coming to town. But after the deal with Idaho fell through, there really weren't many other viable choices remaining. Going out and scheduling another I-AA opponent (in addition to Coastal Carolina) would've been met with derision locally and abroad.
Interesting philosophical shift by Mike Krzyzewski, moving Elliot Williams into a starting role and giving more minutes to Miles Plumlee.
I guess at this point, he really doesn't have much of a choice.
Speaking of Duke, HBO is airing what has all the appearances of being a splendid documentary on the Duke-UNC rivalry. It's at 9 on Monday night.
Looks like the Music City Bowl took a bath in 2008. That's generally what happens when Boston College brings its fans to town. Both of them.
