Not a ton going on out there today on this here internets thing.
The Greenville News speaks with Cullen Harper about his NFL Combine experience, and Harper offers an interesting take regarding his comments following Tommy Bowden's departure:
Harper also was pleased with the interview process, which takes place long before he picks up a ball. Some coaches asked about a quote attributed to him by ESPN last October in which he said Bowden "got what he deserved."
"I told them what happened and the situation," he said. "You've got to give people a second chance.
"Everybody makes a mistake."
Harper owning up to his quote and apologizing for it is something new. Wasn't his explanation in the aftermath that his quote was interpreted the wrong way, that he was saying Dabo Swinney "got what he deserved" by being promoted to interim head coach?
Back to Harper's draft status ... The scouts were not at all impressed with Harper during the Senior Bowl, and now they're saying he might be able to squeeze into the last two rounds.
Wow.
This is the same guy, remember, who was regarded as the top senior quarterback entering the 2008 season. Same guy who was considered a legitimate contender for first-round status.
Ron Morris of The State examines the contrasting approaches of Oliver Purnell and Darrin Horn as the stakes are raised.
Good story here on Tanner Smith from his hometown Gwinnett Daily Post.
Travis Sawchik of The Post and Courier has a theory: Maybe the sagging economy is actually helping guys like Paul Hewitt, Sidney Lowe and Dave Leitao.
Speaking of those woeful Yellow Jackets, commit Derrick Favors is confident they'll turn things around next year.
They'd better, or else Favors will have a different coach in 2010-11. Oh, wait ... Favors probably won't even be around then anyway.
The ACC will have an ally on the NCAA selection committee starting next season.
And Scott Keepfer of The Greenville News gets the award for lead of the day. Anyone who manages to get in a "Dumb and Dumber" reference deserves some props.
